Think inside the box

Description: en This is the scenography element from performance “Femina” (2022) by choreographer Sabīne Neilande and scenographer Līga Ūbele, both Latvian collective members.

This specific box was actually found in a dumpster and used only in rehearsals, because it turned out to be too small for one dancer. But during this residency week we explored different possibilities, and it turned out to be big enough for at least three people and became a space for many choreographic experiments.
It opened up layers of associations -it’s a transformer, it grows limbs, it’s a mythological hybrid fairy, it’s an optical illusion, it’s a practical table, it’s a coffin, it’s a mermaids tail, it’s a Hesburger drive thru where you can pick up dead mouse and spiders meal on the way.
