gaismas deja/ tumsas deja For my individual contribution, I decided to explore how different lightning can be inspiration for the movement. I ended up improvising in the darkest and in the lightest corners of the studio for 10 minutes, after that I had the dance of the light (gaismas deja) and dance if the dark (tumsas deja).
I let the atmosphere of the light/ dark move me, as well as everything I know about them (including stereotypes).
Watching the finished video made me remember my favourite childhood animated movie “Kaķīša dzirnavas” (The Cat’s Mill), specifically the scenes of light and dark dancing. In the film light wins. But should we really make one of them good, and the other one bad? To be fair, I enjoyed dancing the dance of the dark more 😎
Here is link to the film (unfortunately russian voice over version was the only one available on YouTube) : https://youtu.be/IEjrIoMYn2Y?si=uVDiU_82Gr1fEIFC

Begin with what is there as a content development Thinking about content development I realize I begin with what is already there and that I’ve been sitting with or on ideas and inspirations. I wrote a bit about this.

Search, search, search…. Developing an idea into material. An idea that was used a long time ago, now placed in a different time and a different setting. It is interesting how the body, through action, remembers the past — previous patterns and embodied ideas. In the video through my facial expressions you can observe how the mind is speaking up and making a dialogue with the body. Repeat, search, repeat, ow what’s going on, repeat, search, that’s isn't so bad, hmm I think I like get it, I like it, I feel it.
